1.Living things are made of cells.
1.Living things are made of cells.
Evidence- You saw this under the microscope
2.Living things obtain and use energy. (Respire)
Evidence- Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration
3.Living things grow and develop.
Evidence- You are living proof (We will continue to learn about this)
4.Living things reproduce. (We will continue to learn about this)
Evidence-Mitosis and Meiosis
5.Living things respond and adapt to their environment.
Evidence- We will learn more about this
6.Living things Move.
Evidence-
7.Excrete- Get rid of waste
Evidence-Diffusion/Endocytosis/Exocytosis
1. Here is our list of learning targets. We are going to begin to look at how traits get passed along in reproduction...how reproduction works! What makes you...you? Now that you know what makes something living, what makes living things different, I mean why don’t we all look like the person sitting next to us? Our parents, Our brothers/sisters etc…Where do we get our characteristics from? This is the study of Genetics!
2. At first all eukaryote cells divided using a process called mitosis. But about 1.4 billion years ago, some eukaryote cells developed the ability to reproduce using meiosis instead. Meiosis is a way for cells to get more diversity while they are reproducing. We do BOTH processes! Lets look at how that works: Mitosis (exact copy, happens with LOTS of cells)***Stop at 5 min, vs Meiosis (different copies! only happens with sex cells) ***Stop at 4 min
